Romeciti: Premium Natura announces Watpac as preferred builder

Sydney based developer Romeciti has announced national construction company Watpac as the preferred contractor to build its $450 million Natura development in Macquarie Park after six-months Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).

Since its launch, the developer says this new project, designed for the premium end of the market, has attracted “overwhelming” interests from the general public and media attention alike for its “green city” theme.

Key among its features is an abundance of luxuriant green landscaping stretching over its massive 7000 square metre site.

The project, overlooking the Shrimptons Creek riparian corridor and just a few minutes’ walk away from Macquarie University, Macquarie Station and Macquarie Centre, broke the local unit sales records with one penthouse unit selling for $5.6 million, according to development manager Loughlin Jordan.

Mr Jordan said Watpac was a premium choice.

“The choice of builder was strategically important to our project in order to convey confidence that these homes will be built to the best possible standards,” he said.

“Watpac has a track record of over 30 years constructing some of Australia’s most iconic buildings in a huge range of development types that proves its flexibility and commitment to quality – from health and science, to defence, education, residential and major commercial buildings.”

The company is known as an innovator and industry pioneer, Mr Jordan said. It has won its reputation by continually adhering to best practice and innovation with new technology and techniques.

A key achievement and proof of its capability is the award-winning “vertical garden” project, One Central Park, that’s been regarded as “Sydney’s new landmark of sustainability” at a time which only a handful of builders had the capability to take on such challenge.

To add to builder’s strength Watpac in December 2018 became a wholly-owned subsidiary of leading international construction company BESIX and delisted from the Australian Securities Exchange as a result.

Watpac offered competitive advantage above other builders because of its business strategy, combining the strength of its national reach and balance sheet with the depth of its local expertise and networks, Mr Jordan said.

“Ultimately, we would like to exceed the market’s expectations on the quality of all our apartments. We are proud and excited to have appointed Watpac as the builder to deliver this and for its standard of safety and environmental management.”

Watpac’s ongoing innovation in construction and high standards in safety and environmental management plans sets them apart from others.

Natura Macquarie Park is scheduled for completion in 2021.
