10 Indigenous businesses you can choose in NAIDOC Week – and beyond

It’s NAIDOC Week (7-14 July) so in celebration we’ve wrapped up just a handful of the amazing, sustainable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses from around the country that you might need for your work or home.

In one way or another these companies draw on a culture that’s got 65,000 years of knowledge about sustainability in their various fields. Whether that’s architectural design or event catering, these are people who understand the importance of respecting place and keeping our fragile, beautiful environment at the heart of decision making.

Architecture, design and other services

1. Indiji Design

Indiji Design is a Queensland based architectural and interior design practice. It provides services for commercial, educational, retail and residential projects, as well as textile and wallpaper designs, logo developments, architectural photography and more. 4. INDIGI LAB

INDIGI LAB promotes positive, Indigenous driven social and environmental change through digital culture. It provides education, training and other opportunities for Indigenous communities to shape the country’s future through science, technology and innovation. 5. Remote Solar Solutions

Food, catering and other products

6. Warlukurlangu Artists

Warlukurlangu Artists is an art centre operated by the Yuendumu and Nyirripi communities of Central Australia. This year they teamed up with Frank Green to produce a series of gorgeous, limited edition reusable coffee cups in celebration of NAIDOC Week.

7. Kulbardi

Kulbardi is an Indigenous-owned holistic workplace supplier with an extensive collection of sustainable products. They were also responsible for printing 100,000 copies of this year’s National NAIDOC posters.

8. NOOD Australia

NOOD Australia supplies a natural, sustainable and environmentally friendly range of washroom and cleaning products, including hand hygiene, guest amenities and cleaning chemical products made using Indigenous Botanicals that are sustainable and friendly to our environment.

9. The Unexpected Guest

10. Palawa Kipli

Palawa Kipli is a Tasmanian based catering company. It offers a modern take on local, traditional foods for events such as meetings.
